RE: Spree by KZRV

We've had 2 problems with ours so far, the rear slide cables needed to be adjusted and the kit sink was warped. Other than that no complaints we love ours, looking forward to next year.

RE: Colemen Genny wont fire

Thanks for the input, I'll give them all a try. As for a new generator, I knew someone would say that, its not going to happen. Sure I'd like the Honda 3000w or something sim but its a waste of money for me right now. Got this one 4 years ago at Home depot for $250, all I've used it for was emergency backup power to charge the battery. Plus with young kids our camping trips are turning from backwoods fishing/hunting trips to family vacations at RV parks. That "spend money to get it looked at" statement was said fictitiously anyway. In all reality if I can't figure it out its going back to the corner of the garage to sit until I run into someone who can. Thanks again for the help.

Colemen Genny wont fire

I have a cheap colemen powermate generator with a pull start 3.5 hp briggs and straton motor that I can't get to fire. I took the thing apart this weekend and verified there is good spark, drained the gas, cleaned the carb and checked the gas lines. Put it back together with new fuel and its still not firing, the piston isn't seized and I can pull the entire length and it recoils fine. The last time I had it running it died like it ran out of gas but there was plenty of fuel. It was also a very hot day (probably 95-100 degrees) so its possible it may have overheated. But I would hope there would be some safety mechinism to kill the motor before that would happen. I'm positive its getting spark and I'm positive its getting good fuel so the only left that I can think of is there is a compression problem. Before I take it in and spend money to have it looked at does anyone have any pointers for other things I can check.

RE: Ordering a Travel Trailer

Custom ordered ours and negotiated about 29% off MSRP. I figure its actually cheaper for the dealer since they don't have any carrying cost. On the flip side I just got back from buying plates and that was a big shock ($400+). The Guy at the DMV said it was because it was a 2009 model being licensed in 2008.

RE: Why are KZ's so pricey?

When we bought our spree we shopped similar units from all the big names(Jayco, Keystone, Forest River and R-vision). There was about a 12% difference from the most expensive to the lowest price. So we didn't see the 20-25% increase you mentioned, actually the Jayfeather was the most expensive TT we looked at. From what I've seen in my area the Spree is on the higher side of the price point but not out of line.

RE: Similar but lighter than a Jayco Jay Feather EXP 213?

We have the KZ spree 210ks, loaded up with H20 and propane its right at 5000#. Also only the 2009 models have the bike storage door. I've never hauled the bikes inside since I put them on top of the truck, but I'd guess 2 or 3 would be all that fit.

What did you think of the canon city jellystone, we'll be passing through there in a couple of weeks to vist friends and are looking for a place to park.

RE: Anybody Seen the New 2009 K-Z Sportsman Color?

Local dealer has one looks good, but I'd still call it tan. http://www.terryvaughnrvs.com/database/inventory_item.asp?id=531344

RE: Jayco Jay Feather 213

Our 2005 jayco developed lots of small (1/4" to 3/4") bubbles on the ceiling skin. The service department said it was because the roof panels separated to far and that failed the glue. Jayco tried a couple of repairs/cover ups but in the end they replaced our ceiling panels. If your still under warranty I'd get a claim started and have them fix it.

RE: Shake down Q's on our Spree

Thanks to all, with your help (and no help from the dealer) I've found everything but the weight sticker. After getting no response from my dealer I contacted KZ directly. For anyone that is interested this is their exact reply. "Thank you for purchasing our product. Beginning June 1st, the procedures concerning the weight stickers changed in the US. The white weight label that used to be in the cabinets is no longer required and the yellow tag with the Carrying Capacity you found on the door takes its place. I realize this tag does not contain as much information, but it can still be acquired. If you need anything that is not listed, just send us your VIN and the specs you need and we can get those for you." So short story don't expect to see the traditional unit weight label on 2009 models.

RE: Lake City Colorado

Highlander (http://www.highlandercampground.com) is my first choice, nice grounds, right across from the lake, on the apline loop, but still close to town plus the owners are great people. Hensen creek is my second choice because like mentioned before its right in the middle of main street. Walk to anything in town.

RE: Shake down Q's on our Spree

We have a 289KS and the water heater is under the sofa. If you lift the sofa up you will find 3 or 4 screws along the front edge that hold the cover on. Just take those screws out and the panel will lift and slide right out giving you acess to the rear of the water heater and the bypass valves. I leave the screws out because the space under the sofa also provides a bit more storage for the rarely used items that we like to have with us just in case. Thanks, I was hoping the valves might be down there. I like your sugestion about leaving those screws out for storage access.

RE: Shake down Q's on our Spree

Nice to see another 210KS owner. We have had ours for about 6 months and love it. We had a samll punch list of problems that were addressed and fixed. Just an FYI...I know trailer weights vary. We have a 2008 210KS/LX and I weighed ours loaded for a family of 4, with full fresh water and empty black and gray. It weighed in on the scale at 5080. Thanks, I was figuring right around 5000# wet.

Shake down Q's on our Spree

The shake down trip is under the belt for our 2009 kz spree 210ks, so far my only complaint is it took 12 weeks to build the order. The fit and finish is supurb. Couple of questions Does anyone know if these spree trailers are equiped with a water heater bypass? If so how/where can you access it? The H2O heater is under the sofa and its completely boxed in. Also I can't find the low point drains, anyone out there know where they are? Lastly, the manual says the weights sticker for our unit should be on the cabinet door below the sink. However there is no sticker there. The only weight sticker I can find is a little one on the screen door that only states the cargo capacity for my trailer. Have they stopped putting the weight information stickers on trailers?

Did realize they made a bolt on cam for the round bars, looks like with that nifty tidbit of info its an easy choice. Thanks

New TT and sway control

We finally picked up our new KZ spree 210 this past weekend, looks great, I'm sure this is going to sounds funny to you 30+footer folks but there is so much more room than we are used to. I was pleasanty surprised how well the F150 pulled it (although I'll definitely have to upgrade the TV before bringing along the ATVs). The dealer switched over our Husky round bar WD hitch and it seems to be working out well. However on the 60 mile trip back home I found out I really need extended tow mirrors and sway control. So question is does anyone have a recommendation for a sway control setup to use with the husky round bar hitch. I have the 800 to 1200# springs bars, a dry hitch weght of 460# and TT weight around 5000-5500#

RE: KZ Spree 245RKS

We ordered a spree back in June, expect more like 10 to 12 weeks for an order delevery right now. We're in our 10th week, Hopefully ours comes off the line this week. The 2009 MSRP sheet I have says the price you quoted above. I'd say add $1800 for freight and fees. Then work our percentages from there.

RE: television in 2009?

Sams Club sells a converter for 44 dollars, out of pocket cost is about 6 bux if you get the government coupon.

RE: KZ Spree 245KS - How do you like it?

We have a KZ Spree on order with the king sized rear slide, its the smaller 210 model. Like GB said it measures 75"x75". Not a true king but still rather large. We did opt for the LX package mainly because my wife liked the looked, but I also wanted the TV and the shinny wheels. The KZ Spree and The Forest River Surveyor are the only king bed slide manufactures. I ruled out the surveyor quickily but only because the local dealer was a jerk. We were torn between the 245ks and the 210ks (also considered the jayco 213 & 254). But ended up with the KZ 210ks for tow vehicle limitations and I personally like the shorter TT since we do a lot of back woods and forest dry camping. The only bad thing I've seen/herd about KZ is they have an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB. Talking with current owners, several dealers and emails to KZ reps they seem responcive, so I'm not to worried.
